The Maintenance Fabricator Technician III is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, repairing, fabricating, and modifying electrical and mechanical equipment and general building systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all machinery and facilities. This position requires advanced proficiency in multiple maintenance disciplines, including industrial fabrication, welding, pipefitting, mechanical systems, electrical systems, steam and process systems, HVAC, building systems, and equipment troubleshooting. The Maintenance Fabricator Technician III is highly proficient in carbon steel and stainless-steel fabrication, field and shop welding, pipe fitting, gas purging, equipment modification, and custom fabrication design and serves as a subject matter expert capable of independently developing and implementing maintenance solutions. The position works under minimal supervision and contributes to troubleshooting, reliability, safety, sanitation, and efficiency improvement initiatives.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Maintain and repair electrical and mechanical equipment to ensure efficiency, work safety, and GMP compliance in accordance with OSHA requirements.
• Maintain the building, plumbing, electrical, air, water, HVAC and heating systems to ensure uninterrupted operations, and to reduce operational expenses.
• Replace worn or damaged parts on equipment and buildings, including hoses, belts, wiring, piping, switches, fuses, trim, lights, panels, and support structures which may include walkways, carpets, and stairs.
• Expert at steam process, ability to troubleshoot network issues, working in WebControl and Enteliweb, align pumps and motors, ability to conduct fire impairment, 
• Maintain a clean and safe shop and work area, including work areas which may exist outside of the maintenance shop.
• Ensure compliance to all food safety initiatives including building security, GMP and HACCP requirements.
• Follow all GMP & Safety rules and regulations, (personal hygiene, trash removal, etc.), including proper use of appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
• Follow all PM, Sanitation, Food Safety, Lean Manufacturing, and Quality Procedures.
• Responsible for adding waste to a satellite accumulation container, labeling, and transporting hazardous waste.
• Fabrication, Welding & Pipefitting
  • Perform precision fabrication and welding of carbon steel, stainless steel, and other metals used in production equipment, piping systems, structures, and facility infrastructure.
  • Perform SMAW (stick), GMAW/MIG, GTAW/TIG, and other applicable welding processes in accordance with company procedures, applicable codes, and safety requirements.
  • Fabricate, design, customize, install, modify, and repair carbon steel and stainless-steel piping systems, including process piping, utility piping, compressed air, water, steam, and other facility services.
  • Perform pipe fitting, including measuring, cutting, beveling, threading, fitting, alignment, tack welding, installation, and final welding of piping and components.
  • Perform field welding and shop welding on equipment, piping, platforms, supports, guards, frames, brackets, and other mechanical structures.
  • Perform gas purging of piping systems during welding operations when required to protect weld integrity and prevent oxidation or contamination, particularly stainless-steel and process piping.
  • Ensure fabricated and repaired components meet applicable food safety, GMP, sanitary design, quality, and OSHA requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe welding/fabrication shop and ensure proper storage and handling of welding gases, materials, tools, and equipment.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

• High School Diploma with Vocational schooling in Maintenance programs such as electrical, mechanical, HVAC, boiler and refrigeration systems, PLC, and welding trades or equivalent preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in maintenance in a manufacturing environment, preferably in preventative and proactive maintenance.
• Flavor/food industry experience a plus
• Computer literate

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Physically able to lift 80 pounds
• Strong troubleshooting capabilities
• Strong math skills
• Schematic and blueprint reading ability
• Ability to prioritize a heavy work schedule
• Experience with CMMS maintenance systems
• Capability to develop and implement work orders, equipment installations and projects
• Good computer skills to include Microsoft Excel and Word
• Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) programming and set up experience (Modicon preferred)
• HVAC knowledge
• Boiler systems experience
• Refrigeration systems knowledge
• Knowledge of equipment calibrations and equipment installations
