We are looking for a detail-oriented Payroll Clerk to support payroll operations for a company in San Leandro, California. This is a Contract position suited for someone with hands-on experience managing full-cycle payroll in a mid-sized employee population. The ideal candidate will help ensure employees are paid accurately and on time while maintaining compliance with payroll regulations and company procedures.

Responsibilities:

• Process end-to-end payroll for a workforce of approximately 500 employees, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in each pay cycle.

• Review timekeeping, earnings, deductions, and tax data to verify payroll information before final submission.

• Administer payroll adjustments such as garnishments, withholdings, and other required deductions in accordance with applicable guidelines.

• Maintain payroll records and supporting documentation to ensure organized, audit-ready files.

• Respond to payroll-related questions from employees and internal stakeholders with professionalism and attention to detail.

• Reconcile payroll reports and identify discrepancies, taking corrective action when needed.

• Assist with compliance-related payroll tasks, including adherence to company policies and relevant wage and hour requirements.

• At least 2 years of experience in payroll processing.
• Practical experience handling full-cycle payroll from data review through final processing.
• Background managing payroll for organizations with 101 to 500 employees.
• Working knowledge of garnishments and other payroll deductions.
• Ability to process payroll accurately while meeting deadlines.
• Strong attention to detail and skill in maintaining confidential employee information.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to resolve payroll issues efficiently.
