What We Are Looking For We are seeking a strong Senior Estimator with experience in the Heavy Highway / Heavy Civil industry with a focus on project costs, approach to means and methods and innovative ideas for winning bids. This is a great opportunity for a project manager or a project engineer to transition into the estimating or pricing field, empowering them to leverage their past expertise in pursuing high-ranking proposals for the organization. What You Will Do Thoroughly review and understand the project specifications and drawings. Exhibit a good understanding of how the owner pays for the Schedule of Values. Produce accurate take-offs and pricing of Heavy Highway / Heavy Civil components. Complete cost estimates on projects from $10M to $100M price range. Solicit subcontractors and vendors for quotations. Prepare/manage Minority Participation matrix. Analyze self-perform activities versus subcontracted. Prepare/assist in creating construction schedules. Prepare/analyze equipment utilization schedule. Update databases with labor rates, vendor plug values and equipment rates. Complete cost estimates for assigned scopes of work on larger projects. Provide mentoring for younger estimators. Manage small group of assisting estimators. Exhibit good communication skills with internal staff, subcontractors, vendors, client representation, etc. maintaining ethical standards. Participate in Joint Venture estimates. Identify risks and opportunities for projects. Coordinate quantity and cost comparison with Joint Venture Partners.
