Len Foote Hike Inn is a remote, LEED certified backcountry lodge in Georgia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. We are seeking an experienced Kitchen Manager to lead our small kitchen team and support our mission of sustainability and hospitality. Kitchen Manager Position Summary The Kitchen Manager will work full‑time, year‑round from on‑site shared housing. The role includes daily kitchen operations, food purchasing, inventory, and supervision of staff and volunteers. A comfortable private room, utilities, and meals are provided. Principal Duties and Responsibilities Manage daily kitchen operations, ensuring compliance with health codes, food safety regulations, and sanitation standards. Prepare and serve high‑quality meals for up to 45 guests, including vegetarian/vegan options and special dietary requests. Maintain portion accuracy, presentation, and consistency according to Hike Inn standards. Plan menu rotations and coordinate breakfast (8 AM) and dinner (6 PM) services. Check guest sheets for allergies and special requests. Adhere to food waste reduction goals and educate guests on “clean plate” practices. Serve guests with enthusiasm and professionalism. Maintain inventory, rotate stock, and place regular orders from Sysco and local vendors. Retrieve Sysco deliveries and organize supplies. Train kitchen personnel on meal prep and cleaning schedules. Work with Friends of the Hike Inn volunteers to support meal service and cleanup. Lead, delegate, and resolve conflicts to foster a collaborative kitchen environment. Maintain a professional appearance and courteous attitude at all times. Achieve high cleanliness and health score standards. Serve as a model of best practices across all levels. Hold or obtain ServSafe Food Safety certification. Participate in recycling and composting programs. Perform additional duties as directed by the general manager or executive director. Job Requirements / Qualifications Professional culinary, management, and food ordering experience. Minimum two years of hands‑on experience in a restaurant or hotel kitchen; remote lodges preferred. Culinary degree a plus. Food safety certification or willingness to obtain one. Accountability, professionalism, organization, and a strong work ethic. Friendly, hospitality‑oriented demeanor. Experience living in isolated settings with shared housing is a plus. Compensation Starting wages of $17–$18 per hour based on experience, plus an equal share of the tip pool averaging $3 per hour.
