Home Art Attendant

This is a Temporary non-exempt position, not to exceed 960 hours annually. This position is assigned to work with either the Home/Art superintendent and performs a variety of maintenance and customer service functions at the annual Humboldt County Fair.

About Humboldt County Fair Association

Since 1896 the Humboldt County Fair Association (HCFA) has held the annual Humboldt County Fair. The Association was formally established in December 26, 1924 as a California non-profit public benefit corporation.HCFA is governed by an eleven (11) member Board of Directors, the policy and financial policy making body for the Association, and they designate a Chief Executive Officer (CEO) responsible for implementing their direction and managing the Association's employees. The Association entered into an agreement with the County of Humboldt to manage the Humboldt County Fair and Event Center. The Association acts as the County's agent to operate and manage the Center. The Fairgrounds are located in the town of Ferndale and includes approximately 65-acres that houses exhibit buildings, livestock barns, a historic grandstand, a 1/2 mile dirt horse racing track, midway and carnival lots. Included on the property is a recreational vehicle park with 60 site hooks and dry campground facilities.

EXHIBIT ATTENDANT-HOME ARTS


This is a Temporary non-exempt position, not to exceed 960 hours annually. This position is assigned to work with either the Small or Large Livestock, Home/Art, Fine Art or Floral Building superintendents and performs a variety of maintenance and customer service functions at the annual Humboldt County Fair.


SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED


Exhibit Attendants report to their assigned Superintendent, who receives direction from the Chief Executive Director. No direct reports.


EXAMPLES OF TYPICAL JOB FUNCTIONS (Illustrative Only)


Management reserves the right to add, modify, change, or rescind the work assignments of different positions and to make reasonable accommodations so that qualified employees can perform the essential functions of the job.
• Setups and teardown exhibits including, but not limited to, setting tables, chairs, furniture, stage pieces, and crowd control barriers.
• Performs manual labor involved in the installation of exhibits and interactives.
• Cleans and maintains exhibits, which may include using tools and equipment.
• Interacts with guests to provide accurate information and assistance to ensure guests have an enjoyable experience.
• Keeps abreast of information in order to answer questions and concerns with timely and knowledgably responses in person or on the phone.
• Practices good physical work methods, utilizes good work habits, and meets established production standards.
• Wears proper personal protective equipment (e.g., gloves, googles) and works in a safe work environment at all times.
• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested when needed.


KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES.
• Techniques for providing a high level of customer service by effectively dealing with the public, vendors, contractors, and Association staff.


QUALIFICATIONS
• Exerts physical effort in doing assigned duties.
• Follows oral and written instructions.
• Excellent customer service and ability to work cooperatively with team members and others.

WORKING CONDITIONS
• Work is performed indoors and outdoors.
• Work consists of standing on concrete or wooden floors (assignment dependent)
• Work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risk that require following basic safety precautions.
• Expose to dust, dirt, fumes, chemicals, and unpleasant odors.
• Stands, walks, and/or moves for sustained periods.
• Moves objects up to 30 pounds.
• Works a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays when necessary.

Salary


$16.5 - $20 per hour
