Process Development Associate

The Associate in the Process Development group will be a highly motivated individual who will support processes involving fermentation, primary recovery and purification development for internal and external protein products. The position covers aseptic technique, microbial fermentation, clarification techniques for microbial hosts, such as continuous centrifugation and depth/membrane filtration, and purification using chromatography.The ability to work independently and maintain cross functional communication are key position attributes. The Senior Research Associate is expected to work with senior staff to plan, execute, and present the results of routine experiments. The candidate will work in a matrixed team environment, collaborating with various departments, including the strain engineering and analytical development teams, to ensure that fermentation and protein purification processes are properly characterized to support product development and achieve project goals and timelines. Daily laboratory support including (but not limited to) experiment execution /documentation, equipment operation/maintenance, buffer/media preparation, bioreactor/shake flask sampling, and data entry and analysis Operation, maintenance and cleaning of process development equipment including fermentation bioreactors and AKTA chromatography systems Conduct recovery/clarification, chromatography, and filtration of protein products Execute experimental protocols and designs with minimal supervision Perform minor mechanicaland instrumentation troubleshooting; take appropriate corrective action as needed Maintain experimental notes within an electronic lab notebook following Good Documentation Practices Qualifications: Bachelor’s in Microbiology/Biochemistry/Bioengineering/Chemical Engineering or related field is preferred; Associate’s degree with 3+ years of related experience required Ideal candidates will have some laboratory experience involving purification and/or fermentation Experience working in a laboratory environment in industrial biotechnology R&D is preferred, but not required. Strong communication, organizational, and record-keeping skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and sequence analysis programs. #J-18808-Ljbffr BioPhase
