MDIA 403: Children's Media Day/Time: Monday and Wednesday, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Modality: In-person College: College of Humanities, Arts, Behavioral and Social Sciences Position: Lecturer - Academic Year Semester: Fall 2026 Day/Time: Monday and Wednesday, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. Modality: In-person College: College of Humanities, Arts, Behavioral and Social Sciences Department: Communication & Media Studies The Department of Communication and Media Studies at California State University San Marcos seeks a part-time lecturer for Fall 2026 to teach MDIA 403: Children's Media. The department has two (2) Bachelor's degree programs: Communication and Media Studies. Review the courses on our website: Course Description MDIA 403 examines the landscape of children’s media from a critical media and cultural studies perspective. It explores the complexities of children’s media through the communication circuit of production, text, and audience. The course content introduces students to the major debates surrounding the role of media in the lives of children in the U.S. and around the globe. Minimum Qualifications ABD in Communication/Media Studies or closely related field Experience and demonstrated effectiveness with in-person classroom instruction and Learning Management Systems such as Canvas, Moodle, or Blackboard Per the California State University’s Out-of-State Employment Policy, the CSU is prohibited from hiring employees to perform CSU-related work outside California. Working in the State of California is a condition of employment. Preferred Qualifications A doctorate in Communication/Media Studies or closely related field Pertinent expertise to teach courses in our Communication/Media Studies programs Higher education teaching experience with minimum of 1 year as teacher of record pertinent to subject area Preference will be given to applicants who demonstrate intercultural competence and a commitment to serving our campus community as it relates to teaching and, as applicable, service. Salary Commensurate With Degree Level And Experience Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $5,507 - $8,000 per full-time month The salary schedule information for the Lecturer – Academic Year Classification is available based on the following ranges: CSU Classification Salary Range Lecturer A - AY: $5,507 - $6,677 per full-time month CSU Classification Salary Range Lecturer B - AY: $6,221 - $13,224 per full-time month The anticipated hiring range is generally at or near the minimum of the appropriate range, commensurate with education and experience.
