Our client is seeking a proactive and experienced Mechanical Engineering Manager to lead, develop, and hold accountable a team of mechanical engineers within a growing precision manufacturing environment.

This highly visible leadership role combines people development, technical problem-solving, workflow improvement, and cross-functional collaboration to help engineering and production operate more efficiently.

Responsibilities:

Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of mechanical design engineers.

Establish goals, provide actionable feedback, manage performance, and support professional-development planning.

Create a culture of accountability, urgency, collaboration, and consistent follow-through.

Optimize engineering workflows to improve throughput, eliminate waste, and strengthen handoffs between engineering and production.

Identify potential problems early and take action before they affect quality, cost, or delivery.

Troubleshoot complex design and production challenges using an analytical, solutions-focused approach.

Guide engineers through concept development, 3D modeling, drawing creation, tolerance selection, and design-for-manufacturability reviews.

Ensure engineering deliverables meet customer expectations and internal quality requirements.

Own and monitor departmental performance indicators.

Develop and manage the engineering department's budget.

Partner with production and other internal teams to improve efficiency, quality, and cost performance.

Address unresolved issues directly and make timely, well-informed decisions.

Requirements:

10+ years of design-engineering experience

Previous experience leading, mentoring, and managing direct reports.

Strong understanding of CNC machining, precision manufacturing, and related production processes.

Demonstrated proficiency with SolidWorks.

Experience guiding projects through concept development, 3D modeling, prints, tolerances, and manufacturability reviews.

Proven ability to improve engineering workflows, productivity, quality, and cost performance.

Confident and effective communication skills, including the ability to provide feedback and hold team members accountable.

Proactive, assertive, innovative, and solutions-oriented leadership style.

Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline is preferred.

Successful completion of a pre-employment background check and drug screening is required.
