Apex Systems has a current opening with a major utility client in Boston, MA area. Contract: 6 months. Location: Boston, MA or New York (will be remote, but might have to go onsite for meetings).
About the Position: The Talent Acquisition Director will be an integral part of the Global Talent Acquisition leadership team, with responsibility for leading Core recruiting in the US. Core comprises primarily of Gas, Electric, Customer. This position is responsible for providing proactive recruitment leadership and support. The Core Talent Acquisition Director is the recruiting subject matter expert for Core Engineering and serves as a “relationship manager” to provide hands-on support for TA within their function. This position will be responsible to manage their recruiters, fine tune team structure and roles, and develop and implement innovative and cost-effective recruiting strategies for management positions, at all levels. The successful candidate will bring high energy, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record of managing engineering recruitment teams. The Core Talent Acquisition Director should have the ability to think strategically and also the ability to work at the ground level as needed. This role is critical to helping create and support a high performing team through transformation to a global coverage model, driving an inclusive culture and supporting improvement and market savvy across the function.
Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to):
- Develop strong relationships with senior management in order to forecast recruitment needs; provide consultation to key hiring managers and implement innovative and cost effective recruiting strategies linked with business needs.
- Influence and drive the digital implementation of talent acquisition plans and strategies, assuring a qualified, diverse pool of candidates to fill open positions as well as talent gaps identified through the succession planning process.
- Collaborate with Global Talent Acquisition to implement comprehensive hiring strategies
- Work closely with HRBPs to identify new opportunities to add value to the organization; help HR colleagues with ad hoc projects (as and where needed).
- Drive results utilizing metrics (i.e., time to fill, submittal to offer, diversity) to assess performance of recruiters and recruiting strategies
- Develop specialized or competitive intelligence and research in regards to talent development or retention. Provide guidance on recruiting strategies, industry trends and market data.
- Design an efficient network and provide required training and implement various sourcing strategies and perform various retention activities.
- Participate in new hire orientations and onboarding activities, as needed.
Knowledge & Experience Required:
- Previous success in building a forward-thinking high-impact talent acquisition function
- Ability to plan long term and work alongside a complex business function in order to contribute to defining the strategy.
- Exceptional facilitation skills in order to work collaboratively with the business.
- Ability to work collaboratively with the HR function and other centers of expertise in order to develop an integrated HR approach.
- Experience recruiting all levels of professionals is required.
- Proven skills in sourcing candidates using a variety of methods. You’ll be able to guide, develop, and coach the team to take advantage of cutting-edge sourcing strategies.
- Outstanding client service orientation and interpersonal skills; ability to work effectively with all levels of management in a matrix environment.
- Experience leading recruiting initiatives and successfully leading projects that yielded positive results.
- Must be a strong team player; and possess strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and strong attention to detail with a focus on data quality.
- Prior experience with a web based applicant tracking system.
- Proven aptitude to think strategically, identify creative solutions and execute in a changing professional environment.
- Strong PC skills, proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
- Demonstrates the ability to identify and establishes the facts and solutions by researching and analyzing various sourcing channels, asking probing questions and challenging initial responses from different sources in order to seek relevant information.
- Demonstrates a level of critical thinking to understand the route cause of issues and provides creative solutions.
- Ability to adapt approach and consider what is important to the audience by tailoring message accordingly in order to source talent and promote the National Grid Brand.
- Actively builds and maintains a network of relationships internally and externally in order to promote the National Grid Brand.
- Promotes team effectiveness by soliciting input from team members, communicating expectations of the team and delegating responsibilities while providing support and structure.
- Is receptive to change and is willing to change ideas or opinions based on new information or contrary evidence.
