Registered Nurse Medical Surgical Neuro

Mission Health, based in Asheville, NC, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse for our Medical Surgical Neuro unit within our Healthcare & Medical Services department. In this role, you will provide comprehensive, patient-centered nursing care to adult medical-surgical and neuro patients, including those recovering from surgery, experiencing acute or chronic neurological conditions, or requiring complex medical management. You will perform thorough assessments, develop and implement individualized care plans, administer medications and treatments, monitor patient responses, and collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure safe, high-quality outcomes.

As a Registered Nurse on the Medical Surgical Neuro unit, you will utilize evidence-based practices to manage a diverse patient population, including those with stroke, seizure disorders, spinal conditions, and other neurologic diagnoses, while also addressing co-existing medical-surgical needs. Responsibilities include patient and family education, coordination of care across the continuum, accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record, and active participation in quality and safety initiatives. You will serve as an advocate for patients and families, promoting dignity, respect, and shared decision-making.

The ideal candidate is a detail-oriented, organized Registered Nurse with strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills, comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced acute care setting. You should be proficient in IV therapy, medication administration, neurologic assessments, post-operative care, and the use of technology such as electronic health records, bedside monitoring equipment, and infusion devices. Strong communication skills, the ability to educate and support patients and families, and a commitment to compassionate, culturally sensitive care are essential.

This full-time role typically includes rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays to meet the needs of our patients.
