Key Responsibilities

As an Orthopedic Physical Therapist, you will play a critical role in the assessment, treatment, and rehabilitation of clients recovering from orthopedic surgeries, injuries, or chronic pain. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Developing individualized treatment plans based on thorough evaluations of clients' functional abilities, including diagnostic assessments of muscle, nerve, and joint functionality.
• Administering manual and therapeutic exercises, guiding clients through non-manual exercises, and ensuring they receive functional training tailored to their needs.
• Overseeing and mentoring physical therapy assistants to ensure they follow your prescribed treatment plans accurately and effectively.
• Conducting home evaluations to recommend modifications that facilitate rehabilitation and promote client independence.
• Regularly documenting client progress by preparing detailed clinical records, including initial evaluations, OASIS, care plans, and discharge summaries.
• Participating actively in interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss treatment strategies and report on client progress.
• Collaborating with physicians to suggest modifications in treatment based on observed changes in client conditions.
• Providing education and consultation to clients and their families regarding ongoing physical therapy programs and the use of therapeutic devices.
• Conducting on-site functional assessments, reviewing care plans, and contributing to adjustments based on client needs or community resource utilization.

Patient Population / Client Focus

Your primary focus will be on patients who require rehabilitation from orthopedic interventions, ranging from post-surgical patients to those recovering from chronic conditions. The Villages community primarily consists of an older adult population, necessitating a compassionate approach to care that promotes safety, autonomy, and improved quality of life. A patient-centered philosophy will guide you in developing tailored interventions that respect each client's unique circumstances.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

• A Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited program; a Doctorate in Physical Therapy is preferred.
• Active physical therapist licensure in the state of Florida, with the ability to maintain good standing.
• Current CPR certification and a valid driver's license.
• Demonstrated commitment to clinical excellence, patient care, and integrity.
• Exceptional interpersonal communication skills to facilitate collaboration with patients, families, and team members.

Preferred Experience

We prefer candidates who have:

• A minimum of one year of experience as a physical therapist in either an acute care setting or home care.
• Experience in evaluating and managing patients with diverse orthopedic conditions.
• Familiarity with federal, state, and governing agency regulations related to physical therapy.

Compensation and Benefits
