Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Pediatric Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 2 years required License: Pending license accepted Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: First-timers accepted Weekend required: Every other Description: RN Pediatrics position available. Start date is ASAP. Average patient ratio is 1:4. Candidates should have experience in a pediatric surgical unit caring for children ages 0-20 pre and post-operatively. Responsibilities include caring for pediatric surgical patients with diagnoses such as appendicitis, cholecystectomy, and trauma. Additional skills required include chest tube maintenance and orthopedic fracture care. Skills in central line blood draw and care, management of chest tubes, NG tube insertion and management, and understanding of ostomy care are also necessary. Interdisciplinary support includes physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, and pharmacy. Caring for patients involves a range of surgical specialties including orthopedics, ENT, and urology. Unit census averages 14 patients with 12 rooms available. Travelers are expected to float to all pediatric units as needed. Pre-approved time off is limited to two days. Local candidates are not accepted. References are required for submission.
