Project Summary Henderson Building Solutions is looking for a Commissioning Project Manager to join our team in Lenexa. A Commissioning Project Manager is responsible for the overall management, supervision and in some cases execution of assigned building system commissioning projects. Execution is expected to be completed within established budgets and time frames. The Commissioning Project Manager manages a program or projects, coordinates site visits, attends meetings and communicates with customers and sub‑contractors ensuring project success. They also assist with training employees, generating schedules and determining staffing requirements. Key Role Requirements Oversees and coordinates all aspects of projects Follows company project management standards, expectations, and quality metrics Manages proposals and contracts Directs project commissioning and schedules Coordinates and maintains commissioning deliverables and project related documents Manages client service and communication Creates, monitors and adheres to budgets and financials Accountable for overall project/program performance Contributes to efforts to improve performance and ensure consistent adherence to applicable quality standards Leads and directs others in the commissioning process, including owner’s representatives, general contractors, and design team members Serves as a third‑party commissioning representative responsible for project success for the client/end user Interfaces with design teams to assist in meeting the established project goals Executes building commissioning and retro‑commissioning tasks on projects Leadership & Employee Engagement Mentors, coaches and supervises Commissioning Agents, Technicians and project/program team members Recommends training, development and mentoring of staff to Practice, Operations and Technical leadership Recognizes and resolves project conflicts, balancing interests of internal and external stakeholders Client Experience Serves as a brand ambassador and primary project/program contact Maintains regular communication with clients to ensure satisfaction with the project process and engineering work product Partners with Sector and Practice leadership to support business development strategies within their practice or sector Resolves project‑related conflict and responds to client requests and questions Provides direct guidance of business development efforts in relation to Building Solutions across sectors Quality Monitors project quality expectations Ensures project deliverables meet project objectives and quality expectations Develops scope of work and fees to mitigate risk throughout the project life cycle Provides technical insight on project production when applicable Role Requirements Education Preferred: Degree in Architectural, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or Construction Engineering/Management Years of relevant experience considered in lieu of education Experience 8 years of experience in MEPF Engineering, Commissioning or TAB required; 12 years required without degree Industry specific certifications recommended (ASHRAE, ACG and/or NEBB) Basic proficiency in project management standards and execution required Fundamental understanding of building design and construction principles for successful commissioning project execution required Demonstrates proficiency in all core competencies as described and characterized in the job description Ability to sit or stand at a desk and work on a computer for prolonged periods Ability to read, write and communicate in English Ability to climb up and down an 8‑foot ladder Ability to carry up to 25‑lbs Travel required up to 25% of time Culture & Benefits Flexible Work Hours Casual Dress Code Paid Volunteer Time Paid Parental Leave Health and Wellness Initiatives Receptive and Forward‑Thinking Leadership Clear Career Path Options Industry‑leading 401K match and profit sharing Employee Stock Ownership Plan Paid Training for Professional Development Performance Bonuses Comprehensive and Extensive Insurance Paid Term Life and Disability Health Savings Account & Flexible Spending Accounts Paid Time Off and Sick Time off Financial Wellness & Coaching Program Henderson Engineers, Inc. and Henderson Building Solutions are EEO Employers/Vet/Disabled and participate in the E‑Verify program.
