Private Chef (Part-Time, Weekends)

A private family in Miami is looking for a part-time Weekend Chef to work alongside their longtime lead Chef. The family has a discerning, global palate, but the home is relaxed rather than formal. The right Chef brings fine-dining skill along with a team-first attitude, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work quietly in the background of a busy household. They're just as comfortable making pancakes or handmade pizza as preparing a high-end omakase dinner.

Schedule

• Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, on a long-term basis
• Friday: work alongside the lead Chef to prepare for the weekend, rotate inventory, and help with service as needed
• Saturday: cook independently, usually breakfast and lunch, and support the lead Chef when there's a larger event
• Sunday: cook independently, sometimes all meals
• Not every meal is needed each day. Service may move between the family's residences in Miami.

Household

• Principal, up to three children, a Nanny, and occasional guests
• A collaborative team that includes the lead Chef, Housekeepers, and Nannies
• Last-minute changes happen, so flexibility is important

Food and Service

• Breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks, served family style or plated
• Favorite cuisines: American, BBQ, California coastal, French, Greek, Italian, Mexican, Mediterranean, Japanese (including sushi), and steakhouse
• Dairy and avocado allergies in the household
• Regular entertaining

Responsibilities

• Plan menus, shop, prepare meals, serve, and clean up thoroughly
• Work closely with the lead chef to keep service consistent
• Check on other local residences as needed
• Work confidently with professional-grade kitchen equipment, including outdoor grills and wood-fired pizza ovens

Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years in Michelin-level or similar fine-dining kitchens, plus about 5 years in private service hard requirement
• Formal culinary training preferred
• Organized, flexible, and open to feedback while staying creative
• Discreet, with good judgment about when to engage with the family and when to stay in the background
• Legally authorized to work in the US
• Must live within a commutable distance to Miami
• Must be willing to undergo an in-depth background check and provide excellent employment references

Compensation

• Up to $750 per day
• Guaranteed hours
