Research Billing SpecialistThe Research Billing Specialist is responsible for coordinating the clinical trial billing, collection and reconciliation process as well as assisting in the day-to-day department finance operations.Responsibilities include invoicing and tracking payments from clinical trial sponsors for patient visits and other study related costs as outlined in the clinical trial budgets and contracts. They perform payments reconciliation to clinical research, process payment requests for patient reimbursement and to third party vendors in accordance with HMH policy, and serve as a financial resource for clinical site staff and research patients. They utilize CTMS or Financial software to track clinical trial revenue, attend finance meetings and assist other departments with patient account discrepancies, and prepare reports requested by the Finance department. They troubleshoot internal department billing processes, conduct annual billing training for research staff, and provide cross-coverage with Research Billing Compliance Specialist. They resolve outstanding patient bills/disputes with the Finance department, develop and maintain tracking metrics for research finance, maintain strong lines of communication with ancillary departments and outside vendors, and adhere to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required include a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Sciences or equivalent experience and High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), GED equivalent programs, and/or other Vocational degrees/certificates. Minimum of 2 years of experience with billing/coding and/or financial/business operations, experience with billing and collection processes, ability to analyze complex situations and identify solutions and make appropriate determinations, ability to maintain professional demeanor and relationships with team members from all levels of an organization, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred include experience with oncology and/or research. Licenses and Certifications Preferred include SOCRA-Certified Clinical Research Professional (CCRP) and/or Certified Clinical Research Associate (CCRA) and/or Certified Clinical Research Coordinator (CCRC) and/or Medical Billing/Coding certification.
