Shift Type: Nights, 7:00 PM - 7:30 AM, 12-hour shifts, every other weekend (minimum 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period), rotating holidays with core staff

Hours per Week: 36

Candidate Pay Rate: $73.50 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional critical care to medical and surgical ICU patients with a 1:1 to 1:2 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Perform thorough patient assessments and monitor complex conditions including sepsis, CVA, respiratory failure, and post-op complications
• Read and interpret EKG strips and manage telemetry monitoring with confidence
• Provide ventilator management and support for patients requiring respiratory assistance
• Assist with bedside procedures such as TEEs and bronchoscopies alongside the care team
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds on days to keep every care plan aligned
• Provide compassionate comfort care for patients and families during difficult transitions
• Collaborate with hospitalists, intensivists, respiratory therapy, and pharmacy to deliver seamless 24/7 care
• Float to other Sacramento facilities when needed to support the broader health system
• Document accurately in Cerner and maintain clear, timely communication across the care team

Qualifications

• Active California RN license, ready to submit
• Minimum of 2 years of ICU nursing experience
• Current BLS (AHA) certification
• Current ACLS (AHA) certification
• Current NIHSS certification
• Comfortable working night shifts and an every other weekend rotation
• Able to float first when the team needs you
• Two supervisory references required at submittal, one within the last 12 months and one within the last 3 years worked
• Valid driver's license at time of submission so your legal name matches your government-issued ID
• Basic Dysrhythmia exam completed prior to acceptance

• Charting System: Cerner
• Unit Notes: Med Sol prescreens
• need 2 sup refs (charge accepted) at submittal
• 1 w/in 12 mo. & 1 w/in 3 years worked

Knowledge & Skills

• Critical care nursing in a 12-bed ICU setting
• Strong patient assessment skills
• EKG interpretation and telemetry monitoring
• Ventilator management
• Cerner electronic medical record experience
• Comfort caring for complex medical and surgical ICU patients
• Multidisciplinary rounding and team collaboration
• Calm, confident decision-making in high-pressure situations
• Excellent communication with patients, families, and teammates
