Shift Type: Day shifts, 6:45 AM - 7:15 PM, 12-hour shifts, every other weekend required, holiday rotation with core staff

Candidate Pay Rate: $73.50 per hour

Roles & Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional, patient-centered care in a 10-bed Surgical ICU with ratios of 1:1 to 1:2
• Monitor and manage postoperative recovery for complex vascular, thoracic and open belly surgical patients
• Interpret EKG strips and monitor telemetry to catch changes early
• Manage ventilators, CRRT and ECMO patients with confidence and precision
• Collaborate closely with hospitalists, intensivists and a 24/7 respiratory and pharmacy team
• Respond quickly to rapid changes in patient status and escalate appropriately
• Document accurately and efficiently in Cerner
• Float to other Sacramento facilities when needed, keeping your skills sharp and adaptable
• Support and mentor teammates while building strong relationships on the unit

Qualifications

• Active California RN license in good standing
• Minimum 2 years of ICU nursing experience, with a Surgical ICU background strongly preferred
• Surgical patient experience such as CEA, fem-pop, EVARs, laparotomies and thoracic surgeries
• Current BLS (AHA), ACLS (AHA) and NIHSS certifications
• Comfort with 1:1 to 1:2 patient ratios and high-acuity assignments
• Two supervisory references required at submittal, one within the past 12 months and one within the past 3 years
• Not directly employed by CommonSpirit, CHI or Dignity facilities within the past year (PRN through outside firms is fine)
• Willing to work 2 of the 3 major holidays, Thanksgiving, Christmas or New Year, as scheduled

Education

• Trauma Level: 2
• Charting System: Cerner
• Unit Notes: need 2 sup refs from modality submitting to (charge accepted) at submittal
• 1 w/in 12 mo. & 1 w/in 3 years worked
• Copy of the DL is needed at time of submittal to validate legal name - Pulse must reflect the name on a gov't issued ID - no middle initial or middle name

• Surgical intensive care nursing with a focus on postoperative recovery
• Telemetry monitoring and confident EKG interpretation
• Ventilator management and respiratory support
• CRRT and ECMO patient care
• Cerner electronic medical record proficiency
• Strong critical thinking and quick clinical decision making
• Excellent communication with interdisciplinary teams
• Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced ICU environment
