Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: MS/Tele Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night 3x12-Hour; Day 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 years of experience required License: RN license required Certifications: BLS required Must-Have: - Experience starting IVs required - EPIC experience required - Telemetry test passing required prior to start Description: D/N rotators will not be scheduled to flip between days and nights more than two times in a six-week scheduling period unless an exception is made at the employee's request. Employees will be scheduled for 36 hours off between the end of a scheduled night shift and the beginning of a scheduled day shift if the day shift is for patient care. Exceptions to the two flips in a six-week scheduling period and/or the hours off between schedule flips may be made at the employee's request. Day/Night, 12-hour shifts with every other weekend rotation and holidays as needed. Adult medical/surgical patients with a variety of conditions and diagnoses under the family medicine service. Geriatric population. Staff may work with Client patients from various facilities and may have 0-10 patients at any given time. The unit includes a locked wing with a double door for these patients. Staff are always accompanied by a corrections officer while assisting these patients. Telemetry monitoring is required on the unit. Patient care involves accessing and managing ports, central line blood draws, feeding tube care, heparin management, insulin administration, and interpretation of dysrhythmias. Experience in managing dysrhythmias, PCA, PICC line management, and wound care is necessary. Travelers are required to float as needed. Daily census is about 20 patients. The unit provides interdisciplinary support including IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, interpretation, phlebotomy, radiology, social services, rapid response teams, and pharmacy. Pass/fail testing is required with strict passing criteria. A telemetry exam must be passed prior to starting. The following criteria must be met in two attempts: 100% identification of lethal rhythms and no incorrect answers on questions regarding third-degree heart blocks. A passing score of 80% or higher is required. If the traveler fails the second attempt, a certificate of completion of a cardiac interpretation review course must be submitted before a third attempt is assigned. If the traveler does not pass after three attempts, the assignment will be canceled. Travelers must have two years of acute care experience within the last three years in the specialty they are submitting to. Locals will not be accepted.
