Job Title

Travel Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular Progressive Care (CVPC) / Stepdown

Contract | Travel | Days | 13-Week Assignment | Full-Time | Onsite | Shift: 6:45 AM – 7:15 PM

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 40-bed cardiovascular and vascular surgery stepdown unit, managing post-operative patients following procedures such as open heart surgery (CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR), thoracic lung surgery, esophagogastrectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass, and carotid endarterectomy
• Care for overflow medical cardiology patients presenting with heart failure, DKA, chest pain, sepsis, heart block, and related diagnoses
• Perform and manage epidural care, chest tube management, tube feedings, IV glucommander protocols, and cardiac drip management including vasoactive and antiarrhythmic infusions
• Maintain a patient assignment of up to 1:5 ratio in collaboration with charge RN, PCTs, and HUC team members
• Document all patient care accurately and in a timely manner using Cerner EMR
• Float as needed to other stepdown, medical-surgical, or ER inpatient holding units per facility guidelines

Required Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in North Carolina or compact state eligibility
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience
• Stepdown (PCU/IMC) experience required
• Telemetry experience required
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications required
• Proficiency with Cerner EMR and experience with Baxter IV pumps and CADD epidural pumps

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience with cardiovascular and vascular surgery patient populations (open heart, TAVR, lobectomy, AAA repair, fem-pop bypass) within the past year
• CVICU experience
• Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with flexibility and strong team collaboration
