Director,Trust & Estate

Our client is a public accounting firm. They seek a Director, Trust & Estate to join their Cranford, NJ office.

Responsibilities

• Advise high-net-worth individuals, families, trustees, and executors on complex estate, gift, trust, and wealth transfer matters
• Develop advanced planning strategies involving GRATs, IDGTs, SLATs, charitable structures, and succession planning
• Review fiduciary income tax compliance and planning matters, including Forms 1041, 706, and 709
• Interpret federal, state, and local tax regulations impacting trusts, estates, and wealth planning strategies
• Evaluate complex tax returns and planning deliverables to ensure technical accuracy and compliance
• Expand Trust & Estate practice initiatives through client development, service enhancements, and growth opportunities
• Build client relationships through proposals, presentations, and collaboration with firm leadership
• Mentor tax professionals by providing technical guidance, feedback, and support for professional development
• Oversee engagement planning, staffing, budgets, and deadlines to ensure successful client delivery
• Collaborate with attorneys, investment advisors, family offices, and internal teams to deliver integrated client solutions

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited college/university required
• 10+ years of progressive experience in public accounting with a strong focus on Trust & Estate taxation
• Deep technical knowledge of fiduciary income, estate, gift, and GST taxation
• Proven experience advising high-net-worth individuals and complex family structures
• Proven leadership skills
• Proficient with MS Office Suite and tax research platforms (e.g., CCH, BNA, RIA)
• Knowledge of ProSystems FX preferred
• Active CPA license or EA certification required
