Insurance Defense Attorney

Overview A law firm seeks an associate attorney with 5 or more years of experience defending general liability claims to join their Omaha, NE office. The firm is expanding and offers opportunities for professional growth. Portable business is a plus, but not required. Responsibilities Gather and analyze medical evidence and records. Depose plaintiffs, physicians, experts, and other parties. Conduct discovery and perform legal research. Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents. Represent clients at hearings, trials, and mediations. Communicate with claims representatives. Investigate and analyze accidents and potential claims. Manage costs to reduce liability. Compile and submit required reports. Coordinate and attend claims reviews. Negotiate settlements on behalf of clients and insurers. Requirements J.D. and admission to the Nebraska Bar and Iowa Bar. 5+ years of experience in general liability claims defense. Knowledge of legal principles and practices. Understanding of local, state, and federal laws. Proficiency in legal research techniques and terminology. Education Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree. Certifications Admission to the Nebraska Bar and Iowa Bar. Skills Proficient in Microsoft Word; legal software experience preferred. Strong organizational, interpersonal, and research skills. Excellent attention to detail and multitasking ability. Effective telephone and writing skills. Self-motivated with the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
