Job Summary

The Career Preparation Period (CPP) Specialist is a student-facing instructional position responsible for teaching, facilitating, and guiding students through the Career Preparation Period at Job Corps. This role provides classroom instruction, develops and delivers lesson plans, facilitates student orientation, and assists students with career planning through the MyPACE program.

The CPP Specialist helps students develop the employability, technology, career readiness, and life skills needed to successfully transition into academic and career technical training.

Essential Duties

• Teach and facilitate Career Preparation classes for students.
• Develop and deliver engaging lesson plans, presentations, workshops, and classroom activities.
• Provide instruction in employability skills, resume writing, job-search techniques, career planning, basic technology, and workplace readiness.
• Provide instruction in basic living skills, support services, community resources, and placement services.
• Assess student progress and identify barriers that may impact training, employment, or retention.
• Coach, counsel, and motivate students toward educational, vocational, and career goals.
• Maintain an organized, engaging, and supportive classroom environment.
• Initiate and maintain required student e-PARs, career plans, and progress documentation.
• Collaborate with center departments to support student success and retention.
• Attend required staff meetings, training, and professional development activities.
• Perform other related duties as assigned. 

Knowledge & Skills

• Ability to teach and effectively engage students in a classroom setting .
• Strong presentation, facilitation, communication, and motivational skills.
• Ability to relate effectively to a diverse student population.
• Knowledge of career readiness, employability skills, and workforce development.
• Proficiency with computers, email, word processing, and online learning platforms.
• Ability to obtain and maintain CPR/First Aid certification.

Please Note: This is an instructional/teaching position that requires regular classroom facilitation, lesson preparation, presentations, and direct interaction with students. 

•  Associate degree in Human Services, Education, Counseling, Workforce Development, or a closely related field.
• Experience working with youth or young adults in education, training, career development, workforce development, counseling, or a related field.
• Strong communication, presentation, and classroom facilitation skills.
• Valid driver's license.

  Preferred:

• Bachelor's degree in a related field.
• Two or more years of experience in teaching, training, career development, workforce development, counseling, or a related field.
• Experience developing and delivering lessons, workshops, presentations, or training programs.

Compensation details: 24.32-24.32 Hourly Wage
