Sous Chef Toledo Zoo & Aquarium The Toledo Zoo is currently seeking a full-time Sous Chef. The ideal candidate will be a forward-thinking, organized individual interested in working in a high volume and fast-paced environment while supporting our mission to: Enjoy. Inspire. Educate. Act! Under limited supervision, the Sous Chef supports the Executive Chef in the daily activities of the catering department. They provide supervision, training and guidance to subordinate kitchen personnel. Perform duties related to catering services such as menu development, training staff, monitoring food production and food quality, and running the kitchen when Chef is not there. This position reports to the Executive Chef, is non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act, and eligible for overtime pay for hours worked over forty (40) in a work week. Minimum Training and Experience Formal education in a Culinary Arts or Hospitality program preferred with a minimum of two years of experience in a similar capacity. A combination of education and experience may be considered to provide the necessary knowledge and skills to fill the position. Supervisory experience is preferred for the position. Must have a valid drivers’ license and be insurable by the fleet insurance carrier. Must be at least 21+ years of age. The Toledo Zoo is a drug-free workplace, including marijuana.
