Staff Accountant

Administration 531 Market St. Camden, NJ 08102, USA We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Staff Accountant to join our finance team. This employee will report to the Controller. The responsibilities are professional in function. Volunteers of America of Pennsylvania’s (VOAPA) ministry of service is to empower vulnerable communities, families, and individuals through support and resources that lead to health and stability. We use evidence-based, data-driven information to develop community-based, contextualized, holistic, and empowering interventions. SCOPE OF DUTIES Process customer invoices and track accounts receivable, reconcile revenue-related transactions and resolve discrepancies Assist in processing vendor invoices and payments Reconcile bank statements and complete monthly cash reconciliation for all bank accounts ensuring accuracy of general ledger entries. Conduct variance analysis and report findings to management. Assist with Grant reporting documentation, and assist with gathering information and supporting documentation for annual audits Assist with internal and external audits. Support special projects and other related duties as assigned REQUIREMENTS Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required 1–3 years of accounting experience Knowledge of non-profit accounting a plus but not required Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices. Knowledge of QuickBooks Online, Microsoft 365. Bill.com and advanced Excel skills preferred. Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail. Strong organizational and time management skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Regularly lift and move up to 25 lbs. Ability to see clearly at 20 inches or less. Ability to identify and/or distinguish colors. Ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while remaining fixed on a given point. Ability to lift 15 pounds. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Bachelors or better in Accounting. Bachelors or better in Finance. Must have a minimum BA/BS degree in Accounting or a business related field or two years bookkeeping or accounting experience with basic understanding or accounting principles, practices and procedures. Knowledge of MS Excel. Familiarity with accounting software (preferably MS Dynamics Great Plains). Strong organizational skills and the ability to meet deadlines. The ability to communicate effectively and to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
