Insurance Regulatory Counsel – Property & Casualty Location: New York, Charlotte, Houston Working model: Hybrid A leading global insurance organization is seeking an experienced Insurance Regulatory Counsel to join its P&C Legal team. This is an outstanding opportunity for a commercially minded attorney to play a key role supporting strategic initiatives across a complex and highly regulated Property & Casualty insurance business. Working closely with senior stakeholders across Legal, Compliance, Risk, and the broader business, you will advise on a wide range of regulatory matters, strategic transactions, and day-to-day legal issues that impact one of the largest P&C insurance platforms in the U.S. The Opportunity This is a highly visible, client-facing role offering exposure to a diverse mix of work, including regulatory filings, corporate transactions, state insurance department interactions, examinations, and emerging regulatory developments. The successful candidate will gain a deep understanding of the operational and legal framework underpinning a major insurance organization while partnering with stakeholders across multiple business units. Key Responsibilities Prepare and review insurance regulatory filings, including those related to strategic and holding company transactions. Advise internal business partners on U.S. insurance regulatory requirements and developments. Partner directly with state insurance regulators and manage external communications. Support responses to consumer complaints, regulatory inquiries, financial examinations, and market conduct examinations. Monitor changes in insurance laws, regulations, and insurance department activity, providing practical guidance to the business. Conduct legal research and deliver timely, risk-based advice on complex regulatory matters. Collaborate closely with colleagues across Legal, Compliance, Risk, and other control functions on cross-functional initiatives and special projects. About You Juris Doctor (JD) degree and admission to practice law in at least one U.S. state. 4+ years of experience gained at a leading law firm and/or in-house legal department within the insurance industry. Strong experience advising on Property & Casualty (P&C) insurance matters is essential. Background in insurance regulatory law, including interactions with state insurance departments and regulatory filings. Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating legal agreements and documentation. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to deliver practical and commercially focused legal advice. Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to work directly with senior business leaders and regulators.
