Position: Property Accountant Location: New York, NY Employment Type: Full-time Compensation: $85-$95k + Discretionary Bonus Position Overview The Property Accountant will be responsible for managing the financial reporting and accounting functions for assigned properties, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. This role will collaborate closely with property management teams and finance leadership to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. Must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Responsibilities Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for assigned properties, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Manage general ledger activity, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance analysis. Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes for assigned properties. Assist with annual budgeting and periodic forecasting processes, providing detailed financial insights. Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and applicable accounting standards. Support audits by preparing schedules and responding to auditor inquiries. Required Experience/Skills 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in property management or real estate. Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles. Proficiency in accounting software and advanced Excel skills. Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities. Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams. Preferred Experience/Skills Experience with Yardi or similar property management accounting systems. Familiarity with multi-entity accounting and consolidations. Exposure to budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis in a real estate environment. Knowledge of internal controls and compliance requirements. CPA or progress toward CPA certification is a plus. Education Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. Master’s degree in Accounting or Finance preferred. CPA certification or eligibility is a plus. Continuing education in real estate accounting or property management is advantageous.
