Senior Product Manager - CPG / FMCG

An established and growing consumer products company is investing in the next stage of its Retail business and building a more disciplined, category-led CPG operating model. Onsite role in Atlanta. We are hiring a Senior Product Manager to become the business owners for meaningful retail brands and product categories. This is a classic CPG brand and portfolio leadership role - closer to a Senior Brand Manager or Brand Director than a technology Product Manager. You will be expected to understand what is driving the business, determine where growth should come from, make informed portfolio and commercial choices, and lead the organization through execution. Reporting to the Senior Director of Product Marketing, this role will sit at the center of a newly strengthened organization spanning Product Management, Category Insights, Revenue Growth Management, Sales, R&D, Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, and Marketing. The Opportunity The company has established products, significant retail distribution, and meaningful opportunity for continued growth. What is being built now is a stronger CPG operating model around that foundation. That means clearer ownership of brands and categories. Better use of consumer, shopper, customer, and financial insights. Greater discipline around pricing, assortment, innovation, commercialization, and portfolio choices. And stronger accountability for the business results those decisions produce. The Senior Product Manager will help establish what that model looks like in practice. This is particularly compelling for someone who has learned how strong CPG organizations operate and now wants broader ownership, greater visibility, and the opportunity to help build rather than simply inherit a mature system. What You Will Own Own the strategy and financial performance of assigned retail brands and product categories, including revenue, profitability, margin, market share, and annual operating plan objectives. Develop annual and long-range growth strategies that strengthen the portfolio and deliver sustainable profitable growth. Lead portfolio strategy across positioning, pricing, assortment, renovation, rationalization, lifecycle management, and investment priorities. Identify consumer, customer, shopper, and category opportunities and translate them into clear business and growth strategies. Lead innovation and commercialization from opportunity identification through successful retail launch. Partner with R&D or Product Development, Operations, Supply Chain, Sales, Finance, and Marketing to bring new products and portfolio initiatives to market. Use Circana or IRI, NielsenIQ, retailer POS, loyalty, syndicated, competitive, and market data to understand performance and identify opportunities. Translate insights into decisions involving innovation, pricing, promotion, distribution, assortment, merchandising, and customer growth. Partner closely with Sales and major retail customers on category growth plans, joint business planning, assortment, distribution, shelving, and merchandising productivity. Lead forecasting, business reviews, performance reporting, and strategic planning for assigned businesses. Develop compelling business cases and recommendations that influence senior leadership and retail customers. Lead cross-functional teams through decisions and execution regardless of formal reporting relationships. What You Bring 7+ years of progressive experience in CPG or consumer products across Brand Management, Product Management, Product Marketing, Portfolio Management, or Category Leadership. Direct ownership of a consumer brand, category, or product portfolio with accountability for revenue, profitability, margin, market share, and/or annual business performance. Strong financial and commercial acumen, including forecasting, pricing, business-case development, portfolio economics, and P&L management. Demonstrated success leading consumer-product innovation and commercialization from insight or opportunity through market launch. Experience making meaningful portfolio choices - not simply executing marketing programs or coordinating projects. Experience using Circana or IRI, NielsenIQ, retailer POS, loyalty, syndicated, or comparable data to guide business decisions. Meaningful experience with major retailers and an understanding of the levers that drive assortment, pricing, promotion, distribution, shelving, merchandising, and category growth. Strong cross-functional leadership across functions such as Sales, R&D or Product Development, Finance, Supply Chain, Operations, and Marketing. The ability to turn complex consumer, customer, financial, and market information into clear priorities and action. A builder's mindset and comfort working in an organization where some of the capabilities, processes, and ways of working are intentionally being strengthened and created. Experience in household products, home care, cleaning, food, beverage, personal care, consumer durables, or other major CPG categories can all be relevant. The quality of your CPG experience, business ownership, financial judgment, and retail fluency matter more than the specific product category you have managed. A bachelor's degree is required. An MBA is helpful but not required; strong relevant CPG business experience is more important.
