Direct Counsel is representing a reputable law firm seeking a Commercial Litigation Associate (4th–7th Year) to join its Phoenix office.
About the RoleThis opportunity is ideal for a litigation associate interested in handling sophisticated, high-stakes commercial litigation matters within a collaborative national platform. The role offers hands-on experience in complex litigation, significant client interaction, and the opportunity to work closely with cross-office teams on challenging disputes.
Responsibilities- Analyze complex legal issues and draft briefs, motions, and other litigation filings
- Conduct legal research and develop litigation strategy
- Prepare for, take, and defend depositions
- Assist with trial preparation, including:
- Direct and cross-examination outlines
- Trial exhibits
- Witness preparation
- Manage discovery, including document review, production, and written discovery responses
- Work with experts and assist with overall case management
- Collaborate directly with clients and litigation teams on sophisticated matters
- 4–7 years of commercial litigation experience
- Strong research, writing, analytical, and interpersonal skills
- Experience handling sophisticated litigation matters and motion practice
- Deposition and trial preparation experience preferred
- Strong case management and organizational skills
- Ability to work strategically and directly with clients
- Law Review/Journal experience and/or judicial clerkship preferred
- Strong academic credentials required
- Must be admitted to practice in Arizona
