TB Accounting Services is seeking an experienced Staff Accountant to join our small and growing consulting team. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys working across multiple clients, industries, and accounting challenges, including real estate and forensic engagements.

As a Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and supporting clients with ongoing accounting, reporting, and compliance needs. You will work closely with internal team members and directly with clients to analyze financial data, explain accounting treatments, and ensure GAAP-compliant reporting.

The day-to-day responsibilities of this role will vary depending on each client’s size, industry, and complexity, making this position well-suited for someone who thrives in a dynamic consulting environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and update accounting records and supporting documentation

• Perform general accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger activities

• Post financial transactions and properly categorize them by assets, liabilities, equity, income, and expenses

• Reconcile bank and credit card statements

• Prepare and maintain depreciation schedules in accordance with GAAP

• Create, maintain, and reconcile fixed asset schedules, including real estate assets such as land, buildings, improvements, and equipment

• Ensure proper treatment of non-depreciable assets, including land

• Create and maintain debt schedules, including principal, interest, amortization, and payment tracking

• Track and reconcile prepaid expense schedules and ensure proper amortization under GAAP

• Analyze budgets and prepare expense, variance, and financial performance reports

• Prepare reliable historical and forecasted financial reports

• Conduct month-end and year-end closings

• Support month-end and year-end close processes

• Standardize and maintain accounting systems, records, and procedures

• Prepare documentation and schedules to support audits, reviews, and forensic engagements

• Perform forensic reviews of financial records to identify errors, inconsistencies, or misstatements

• Meet with clients to discuss confidential accounting, financial, and reporting matters

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required

• Prior experience as a Staff Accountant or in a similar accounting role

• Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards

• Experience with fixed assets, depreciation, debt, and prepaid accounting

• Exposure to real estate accounting preferred

• Familiarity with audit support and forensic accounting concepts a plus

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Word, with strong spreadsheet skills

• High attention to detail and accuracy

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Ability to clearly explain accounting concepts to clients and internal team members
