EMS Training Officer* Internal posting for Orange County permanent employees only

Position Summary The Orange County Emergency Services Department is seeking an EMS Training Officer to manage the EMS Field Training and Evaluation Program (FTEP) for new Emergency Medical Services providers. The officer will evaluate the field training process, participate in the selection and assessment process, orient new providers, assign providers to EMS field preceptors, and serve as the EMS Division system administrator for the daily observation reporting software while managing user access. Responsibilities Manage the EMS Field Training and Evaluation Program (FTEP) Evaluate the field training process and outcomes Participate in selection and assessment of new providers Orient new providers and assign them to EMS field preceptors Administer the EMS division observation reporting software and manage user access Support the selection, training, certification, development, and ongoing support of field preceptors Work under the general supervision of the EMS Bureau Chief of Training and Development Minimum Qualifications Associates degree and at least two (2) years of work experience in an EMS system at the Paramedic level OR graduation from high school or GED with at least five (5) years of work experience in an EMS system, including a minimum of four (4) years as a certified Paramedic At least one (1) year of experience as an EMS Instructor, Field Training Officer, clinical preceptor, or equivalent in Orange County or a comparable 9‑1‑1‑based EMS system Possession of NC Level I Paramedic Instructor certification or ability to obtain it within 12 months of hire Annual review rating of proficient or higher and no disciplinary action at the written warning level or higher within the last calendar year Special Requirements Completion of NC Level II Paramedic Instructor within the first thirty (30) months of employment is preferred Successful completion of ICSI 100, 200, 700 and 800 training courses Participation in the Drug and Alcohol Program is required for this safety‑sensitive position All offers of employment are contingent upon successful clearance of a pre‑employment drug test, background check, and completion of the Paramedic Fitness for Duty assessment Internal candidates must have at least two (2) of the required Paramedic years within the Orange County System Equal Opportunity Orange County is an Equal Opportunity and affirmative action employer. #J-18808-Ljbffr Orange County Government
