Maintenance Mechanic – 2nd Shift

Department: Maintenance

Position Type: Hourly

Schedule- M-F 3pm-11:30pm

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Mechanic to support industrial manufacturing operations by maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting production equipment, facility systems, and plant support machinery.

This position is responsible for responding to maintenance needs based on production requirements while helping ensure equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably. The ideal candidate is a hands-on mechanic with strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and experience working with industrial manufacturing equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Inspect machinery, equipment, and facility systems to identify defects, wear, or potential maintenance issues.
2. Diagnose equipment problems and determine the appropriate repair or corrective action.
3. Disassemble machinery and equipment as needed to access defective or damaged components.
4. Repair, rebuild, reassemble, and adjust machinery to ensure safe and efficient operation.
5. Install, remove, modify, and relocate machinery or equipment as required.
6. Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, equipment manuals, and other specifications.
7. Maintain and repair plant support equipment, including boilers, compressors, water softeners, pumps, and related systems.
8. Troubleshoot basic electrical systems and test fuses and other electrical components.
9. Perform welding, soldering, brazing, and general shop-machine work as required.
10. Take responsibility for major equipment repairs and coordinate with outside contractors or service providers when necessary.
11. Develop and perform preventive and predictive maintenance programs for production machinery and equipment.
12. Respond to production-related maintenance issues and prioritize repairs based on operational needs.
13. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following required PPE and housekeeping practices.
14. Participate in 5S activities and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Knowledge and application of Kurtz and Teubert steam chest molding machines

1. Good understanding of the demands of production and knowledge of EPP processing
2. Assist with training apprentices and coworkers on equipment, maintenance procedures, and technical skills.
3. Work collaboratively with production and maintenance personnel to minimize equipment downtime.
4. Perform other maintenance-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. 3–5 years of industrial or manufacturing maintenance experience.

Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience in:

1. Compressed air systems
2. Hydraulics
3. Pneumatics
4. Basic electrical systems
5. Pumps
6. Preventive maintenance
7. Industrial machinery
8. Ability to troubleshoot equipment problems and identify effective solutions.
9. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and equipment documentation.
10. Understanding of production demands and the importance of maintaining equipment uptime.
11. Experience with steam chest molding equipment or similar industrial molding machinery is preferred.
12. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
13. Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also working independently with minimal supervision.
14. Must provide and maintain required personal hand tools.
15. Must be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

1. Strong welding experience.
2. Experience with industrial manufacturing machinery and plant support systems.
3. Experience performing preventive and predictive maintenance.
4. Experience operating forklifts and aerial lift equipment safely.
5. Current or eligible certification for powered industrial trucks and aerial lifts.
6. Ability to complete required medical or fitness evaluations associated with equipment operation.

Work Schedule:

1. Must be willing to work off-shifts, weekends, and overtime as production and maintenance requirements dictate.
2. Schedule flexibility is important due to the operational needs of a manufacturing environment.
3. Schedule- M-F 3pm-11:30pm
