This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with experience in nursing home defense litigation to continue their career development and professional advancement with a large, national firm.Key Responsibilities:Independently manage a caseload involving the defense of nursing home negligence claims.Lead all aspects of litigation, including pleadings, discovery, motion practice, depositions, and court appearances – trial experience is a plus.Maintain strong client relationships through regular communication, detailed reporting, and proactive, solution-oriented counselDraft and review complex legal documents, including pleadings, discovery requests, motions, and settlement agreements.Collaborate closely with attorneys, team members, and partners on strategic legal projects, fostering strong teamwork and knowledge-sharingQualifications:JD from an accredited law schoolMust be admitted to practice in NY5+ years of defense litigation experience, with a strong focus on medical malpractice and nursing home negligence mattersDemonstrated experience taking and defending depositions, including expert depositions, on behalf of nursing home and long-term care clientsProven ability to independently manage complex cases and drive them toward resolution.Excellent written and oral advocacy skills, with the ability to present sophisticated legal arguments clearly and persuasivelyTrial experience is a plusUnderstanding of state and federal regulationsAbility to travel to client sites throughout Westchester, NYC and surrounding areas, as necessary, ensuring seamless client support and case managementWilson Elser offers a competitive salary and benefits package designed to support our attorneys both professionally and personally.A variety of factors are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to experience, education, licensure and/or certifications, geographic location, market demands, other business and organizational needs, and other factors permitted by law. Final salary wages offered may be outside of this range based on other reasons and individual circumstances. This position is considered full-time and therefore qualifies for benefits including 401(k) retirement savings plan, medical, dental, vision, disability, and life insurance.
