Development Intern

Position Summary:

The Development Intern provides administrative, research, and programmatic support to the organization’s development and fundraising activities. This position is designed to provide hands-on experience in nonprofit fundraising, donor engagement, grant research, sponsorships, and development operations. The Development Intern will assist with maintaining accurate donor information, supporting fundraising campaigns and events, preparing communications and materials, and tracking development activities and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Maintain and update donor and prospect records in CRM and database systems.
• Assist with tracking recurring donations, fundraising activity, and campaign performance.
• Support donor thank-you messages, acknowledgments, and engagement communications.
• Assist with monthly fundraising reports and development tracking.
• Support fundraising campaigns, year-end appeals, and program-specific initiatives.
• Track campaign engagement and other development metrics.
• Draft routine donor emails and follow-up communications.
• Research grant opportunities and prospective funders aligned with the organization’s mission.
• Maintain grant and fundraising calendars.
• Assist with preparing grant materials, reports, and supporting documentation.
• Support sponsor outreach and follow-up activities.
• Assist with fundraising efforts connected to programs, events, and special initiatives.
• Track sponsorship commitments and help monitor fulfillment of sponsor deliverables.
• Provide general administrative support to the Development team.

Qualifications:

• Current undergraduate student or recent graduate with an interest in nonprofit management, fundraising, communications, public relations, business, or a related field.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to conduct research, gather information, and summarize findings effectively.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; familiarity with CRM or donor databases is a plus.
• Interest in nonprofit development, fundraising, and donor engagement.
• Ability to handle confidential donor and organizational information with discretion.
