Import Operations Agent (Entry Level)

Location: Chelsea, MA

Employment Type: Full-Time

Schedule: Monday-Friday 8:30am-5pm

Pay Scale: $24-$28 per hour

Position Overview

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Import Operations Agent to join our growing logistics team. This entry-level position is ideal for someone looking to build a career in international transportation, supply chain, or freight forwarding. The successful candidate will support the day-to-day coordination of import shipments, ensuring timely communication, accurate documentation, and exceptional customer service.

This role requires the ability to effectively multi-task in a fast-paced environment, maintain strong time management skills, and demonstrate exceptional attention to detail when handling shipment records and import documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and track international import shipments from origin to final delivery.
• Communicate with customers, carriers, overseas agents, warehouses, and customs brokers regarding shipment status and requirements.
• Review, process, and maintain import documentation, including bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists, and customs-related paperwork.
• Enter and update shipment information in company operating systems.
• Monitor shipment milestones and proactively address delays or service issues.
• Ensure all shipment data is accurate and complete to support compliance requirements.
• Respond to customer inquiries in a professional and timely manner.
• Assist with vendor invoicing, shipment reconciliation, and file maintenance.
• Collaborate with internal departments to ensure smooth shipment execution and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required;
• Previous customer service, administrative, logistics, or transportation experience is a plus but not required.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to learn new systems and processes quickly.
