Accounts Payable (AP) Clerk

Description

This is a hybrid job with the work in the office in Northville, MI 1-2 days a week and otherwise remote.

Working with the corporate Finance and accounting team, responsible for managing the company's short-term financial obligations by receiving, processing, and verifying invoices, reconciling vendor statements, and issuing payments.

Core Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Invoice Processing : Review, code, and enter vendor invoices into the accounting

system, ensuring they match purchase orders (POs) and receive documents.

• Payment Management : Schedule and process payments (checks, ACH, wire

transfers) while tracking discount opportunities and avoiding late fees.

• Vendor Reconciliation : Reconcile monthly vendor statements with internal records

to identify and resolve discrepancies or outstanding balances.

• Record Maintenance : Maintain accurate, organized, and up-to-date digital or

physical filing systems for all financial records and invoices.

• Communication : Function as the primary contact for vendors, responding to

inquiries regarding invoice status or payment issues in a timely manner.

• Expense Reporting : Process employee expense reports and reimbursements,

ensuring compliance with company policies.

• Internal Controls : Ensure proper authorization is obtained for all expenses and

maintain confidentiality of sensitive financial data.

• Other Administrative Tasks : As assigned

Key Qualifications and Skills

• Education : High school diploma required; associate or bachelor’s degree in

accounting or finance is preferred.

• Technical Skills : Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel) and

experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).

• Soft Skills : Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to solve

problems independently. Good communication skills are a must.

• Experience : Previous experience in accounting, bookkeeping, or as an

administrative assistant is often preferred.
