Job ID: 87545 Location: Remote Title: Admissions Evaluator (BYA) Job Summary Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Comprehensive Review and Non-Resident Recruitment, the incumbent evaluates and analyzes academic records and a variety of personal information from individuals applying for undergraduate first-year admission to UC Santa Cruz. The incumbent applies complex faculty-approved policies to determine UC eligibility, conducts holistic assessments, and decides if candidates meet UC Santa Cruz selection criteria. Training on review of first-year applicants is provided before the current application cycle. Appointment Information Budgeted Salary: $3.00 per application Benefits Eligibility: None Schedule: [Percentage of Time: 0% (BYA)] Days of the Week: Monday–Friday Shift: Day Employee Classification: Limited appointment Union Representation: Non-Represented Job Start Date: 10/1/2026 Job End Date: 2/28/2027 Work Location: Remote Travel: Never or Rarely Job Duties 50% – Eligibility Assessment Uses extensive knowledge of department requirements and applicant pool to assess applicants' overall record and experience for final admissions determination and recommendation. Analyzes student application materials to determine complete educational history. Determines UC eligibility status, researching accreditation, variant educational and grading systems, and external collegiate coursework for comparability to UC coursework. 30% – Guideline Application Interprets and applies complex UC faculty-approved guidelines governing undergraduate first‑year admission. 10% – Reference and Research Uses reference materials including UC's A‑G course lists, the UC California course list database, the California statewide articulation database, and ASSIST. 10% – Training Completes training and norming sessions related to the review of first‑year applicants for admission to UC Santa Cruz. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related area or equivalent experience and training. Knowledge and experience working with a diverse student population. Effective oral communication skills. Effective written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to interpret a broad variety of academic and administrative policies consistently. Ability to research and analyze information to reach appropriate conclusions using complex policies. Experience using robust web‑based and/or networked applications for input, access, and analysis of information critical to daily work. Judgment and discretion in handling sensitive or confidential student records and organizational matters. Ability to work independently and set priorities in a multifaceted set of responsibilities. Excellent organizational and time‑management skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, and web‑based research tools. Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of Slate or other student‑based computing environments. Knowledge of UC admissions practices and procedures. Remote work from home/remote office required; compliance with UCSC telecommuting agreement needed. Variable schedule including evenings and weekends required. Training completed within established time frames, including UC compliance training. Professional appearance and conduct required in a professional setting. Provide own computer, internet access, and office equipment necessary for duties. Compliance with all UC, UCSC, and Office of Admissions policies and procedures. Attendance at weeklong virtual training (Nov 12, 13 & 16, 9 am‑4 pm) and active participation in Zoom meetings. Compliance with UCSC Vaccination Policy. Discretion in managing sensitive information; follow all data protection and privacy policies.
