Executive Director of the Institute of Ecological Resilience

Responsible for the overall management and operation of all aspects of the Institute of Ecological Resiliency (IER) to include setting long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies while routinely exercising discretion and independent judgment. Accountable for the overall programmatic and fiscal integrity of the IER and the UH Coastal Center (UHCC).

1. Creates visionary leadership and collaborative oversight of the Institute of Ecological Resiliency and the UH Coastal Center in the planning, implementation, and management of all aspects of the Institute including the administration of human resource processes, finance, information technology, quality and outcomes management, business development, strategic initiatives and all programs.
2. Develops the budget and efficacy of expansion opportunities.
3. Oversee the recruitment, development and support of a strong and engaged Advisory Council.
4. Represents the IER at appropriate national/regional conferences.
5. Drives fundraising efforts in concert with UH Advancement and leadership.
6. Strengthens partnerships and fosters new ones to engage both federal and state officials and their staff, philanthropy, government agencies, advocacy groups, and community-based organizations to collaborate strategically to continually improve and enhance research opportunities and collaborative initiatives.
7. Stays abreast of federal, state, and local policy direction. Inspires and supports internal and external efforts to link policy to "on the ground" practice.
8. Develops and maintains relationships with key regional, state and national groups.
9. Partners with Marketing and communications to represent the IER before decision-making bodies, with coalitions of allied organizations.
10. Performs other job-related duties as required.

MQ: Education: Requires a thorough understanding of both theoretical and practical aspects of an analytical, technical or professional discipline; or the basic knowledge of more than one professional discipline. Knowledge of the discipline is normally obtained through a formal, directly job-related 4-year degree from a college or university or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program that is directly related to the type of work being performed. Preferred: Master's degree. Experience: Requires a minimum of seven (7) years of directly job-related experience. Preferred: Leadership experience within a nonprofit, academic or governmental setting related to the environment and Nature Based Solutions. Additional Job Posting Information:
