Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced  Associate Attorney to join a dynamic legal team specializing in insurance defense litigation. This opportunity is ideal for a motivated attorney with at least three years of insurance defense experience who is capable of managing cases independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and committed to delivering exceptional legal services in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of litigation from case inception through resolution across multiple insurance defense matters.
• Conduct comprehensive legal research utilizing Westlaw and other legal research platforms.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, discovery responses, settlement agreements, and other legal documents with accuracy and clarity.
• Develop case strategies by analyzing evidence, witness testimony, and expert reports.
• Represent clients in court proceedings, depositions, hearings, mediations, and settlement conferences.
• Negotiate settlements and work toward favorable resolutions for clients.
• Maintain organized case files and ensure compliance with court deadlines and procedural requirements.
• Collaborate with attorneys, clients, experts, and support staff to achieve successful case outcomes.
• Accurately record billable time and meet established billing expectations.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Active license to practice law in the State of Illinois.
• Experience in insurance defense litigation.
• Proficiency in legal research using Westlaw.
• Strong legal writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills.
• Experience handling court appearances, depositions, mediations, and settlement negotiations.
• Excellent organizational, time management, and case management abilities.
• Familiarity with legal billing software and the ability to meet billing goals.
• Ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
