Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Stepdown Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/21/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 48 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Travel Pediatric Stepdown RN – Chicago, IL | $3,000 Weekly Facility: La Rabida Children's Hospital Location: Chicago, IL Unit: Pediatric Stepdown – RN Peds Stepdown Contract: 13 Weeks Shift: Days | 4×12s | 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM Patient Ratio: 1:3 Travel Experience: Required Experience: 2 Years RN Experience Charting: Any EMR – Experience Required Requirements Active Illinois RN License in hand BLS PALS 2 years of RN experience Previous travel nursing experience required Comfortable caring for complex pediatric patients Strong experience with ventilated patients and tracheostomy care Unit & Patient Population Pediatric Stepdown/Acute Care setting Patients: Infants, Pediatrics & Adolescents Approx. 39-bed unit with a daily census of around 30 Patient ratio: 1:3 Patients have long-term complex/chronic illnesses Frequent care of children with tracheostomies and chronic ventilators No drips or surgical patients; primarily transitional/complex-care patients Must be comfortable with ventilator and tracheostomy management Respiratory Services, PT, Pharmacy, Radiology, Social Services and other interdisciplinary support available Schedule 4×12-hour day shifts 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM Weekend requirement: Either every weekend or every other weekend Block scheduling is not guaranteed 24 hours of orientation 1 pre-approved time-off request Important: This is a specialized pediatric complex-care unit.
