Nurse Practitioner - Cardiology (Per Diem)

Position Summary The Nurse Practitioner in the Cardiology Department provides quality service by performing a variety of functions and technical procedures necessary for the admission of patients scheduled for cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology studies, stress tests, echos and chest pain (observation patients). The Nurse Practitioner works in conjunction with the Cardiologist to provide consultation to in-patients. The processes of assessment, diagnosis, treatment, follow-up, and outcome evaluation are utilized. The nurse practitioner is an independent health care provider who will work closely in collaboration with the Medical Director of Cardiology and physicians of the Cardiology Department. Responsibilities The Cardiology NP will deliver quality care in preparing cardiology patients for invasive cardiac procedures (cardiac cath/EP), echo and stress testing, evaluating and treating cardiac patients, obtaining consents, and following patients post cardiac catheterization as well as admitting and discharging patients from the cardiology service. The NP will assist in growing the Cardiology line of services at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital. Required Experience And Qualifications Master’s in Nursing Degree and completion of a Nurse Practitioner Program, required. New York State Licensed Registered Professional Nurse and Nurse Practitioner. Nurse Practitioner National Board Certification in specialty area required. Completion of a pharmacology component of not less than three (3) semester hours or the equivalent and instruction in NYS laws relating to prescription and record keeping. Previous experience relevant to cardiology, and prescriptive privileges in NYS. Current BLS/ACLS/PALS provider certification from the American Heart Association required. Additional Requirements As part of employment at Southampton Hospital, there may be occasions when travel to other locations is needed to support operational needs. All Hospital positions may be subject to changes in pass days and shifts as necessary. This position may require wearing respiratory protection, which may prohibit wearing facial hair. This function/position may be designated as "essential." When the Hospital is faced with an institutional emergency, employees in such positions may be required to remain at their work location or report to protect, recover, and continue operations. Pre‑Employment Requirements Successfully complete pre‑employment physical examination and obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Southampton Hospital’s Employee Health Services. Complete electronic reference check with at least three professional references. Successfully complete a 4‑panel drug screen. Meet regulatory requirements for pre‑employment screenings. Provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s). Salary $94.60 per hour.
