Job Title: CNC Machinist Job Description
As a CNC Machinist, you will machine precision parts used in gears and gearboxes for conveyors, machinery, and industrial equipment. You will perform drilling and milling operations, handle setups, offsets, and changeovers, and have the opportunity to grow into editing and light CNC programming. Daily work involves interpreting and working from blueprints to produce high-quality components that support speed reduction and increase functions in mechanical systems.
Responsibilities

• Perform CNC machining operations, including drilling and milling, to manufacture parts for gears and gearboxes used in conveyors, machinery, and equipment.
• Set up CNC mills and lathes, including loading tools, establishing work offsets, and preparing machines for production runs.
• Complete machine offsets and changeovers efficiently to support production schedules and part variety.
• Read and interpret blueprints on a daily basis to ensure parts meet required dimensions, tolerances, and specifications.
• Use precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges to verify part dimensions and maintain quality standards.
• Operate and work with equipment from brands including Mazak, Haas, OKK, Mori Seiki, and various grinders (ID/OD).
• Troubleshoot machining issues and make appropriate adjustments to improve part quality and machine performance.
• Perform basic editing and light CNC program adjustments as skills develop to optimize machining processes.
• Operate drill presses and related equipment safely and effectively as part of the machining process.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety procedures in a well-lit manufacturing environment.
• Collaborate with team members and supervisors to meet production goals and continuously improve processes.

Essential Skills

• Hands-on experience with CNC machining operations, including drilling and milling.
• Proficiency in setting up CNC machines, including mills and lathes.
• Ability to perform machine offsets and changeovers in a production environment.
• Strong blueprint reading skills and the ability to interpret technical drawings accurately.
• Experience using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
• Familiarity with operating or working around Mazak, Haas, OKK, Mori Seiki equipment and ID/OD grinders.
• Troubleshooting skills for machining processes and equipment issues.
• Capability to operate a drill press safely and effectively.
• Willingness to grow into editing and light CNC programming responsibilities.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience with gear hobbing is a plus.
• Background working with both mills and lathes in a manufacturing environment.
• Comfort working with multiple CNC brands and machine types.
• Interest in ongoing training and skill development, including potential relocation within different facilities or locations.

Work Environment
The role is based in a clean, well-lit manufacturing facility that focuses on precision machining and gear production. You will work with CNC mills and lathes, drill presses, and grinders (ID/OD), including equipment from brands such as Mazak, Haas, OKK, and Mori Seiki. The facility operates on multiple shifts: first shift runs from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and second shift runs from 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Second-shift employees train on first shift initially and receive a shift premium. The environment emphasizes cleanliness, organization, and adherence to safety practices while working with industrial machinery and measuring instruments.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Milwaukee, WI.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $32.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
