Industrial Hydraulics & Mechanical Reliability Technician

Location: Apple Grove, WV

Compensation: $25–$35 per hour (commensurate with experience)

Schedule: 50+ hours/week, 10-hour shifts, Day and Night shifts available

Assignment: Approximately 3 months with potential Temp-to-Hire; possible temporary assignment through approximately January

From the moment you step onto the floor of a reputable, growing operation in Apple Grove, WV, you’re the mechanical expert others count on. You’ll keep critical equipment online, guide safe start-ups, and use your precision skills to spot issues before they become downtime. You’ll collaborate closely with a Lead and your crew, take direction on priorities, and lean on your expertise in hydraulics, alignment, and precision measurement to keep production moving.

• Oversee and run the Segment Mold Shop , ensuring components are set up to spec and ready for service.
• Verify alignments, bearings, and rollers ; complete thorough QC inspections .
• Dismantle, clean, rebuild, replace, install, maintain, and assemble hydraulic systems .
• Lubricate mechanical assets and perform welding repairs as needed.
• Set equipment to correct press, sliding, and running fits on gears, bearings, and shafts.
• Operate shop tools (e.g., drill presses , pipe-threaders , power saws and similar machines).
• Execute mechanical repairs on cranes and mobile equipment .
• Layout, install, maintain, and repair piping, fittings, fixtures, and pressure systems ; locate and fix hydraulic leaks.
• Remove and install operating components (e.g., cylinders, oil motors, four-way valves, check valves ) and perform needed repairs.
• Change over, set up, and adjust equipment to match operating conditions.
• Use required computer systems to plan work, execute tasks, and document results.
• Apply mechanical/electronic diagnostics , computer tools, and precision instruments to troubleshoot and verify performance.
• Pitch in with additional duties and assignments as directed.

• Operate in a team-based environment to complete tasks safely and efficiently.
• Receive instructions and direction from a designated Lead .
• Rely on the Lead to handle paperwork and record keeping .

• Mechanical Engineering degree or equivalent technical training .
• Fluent English communication.
• 5+ years in a steelmaking plant with arc furnace, casting, or rolling maintenance experience.
• Deep knowledge of mechanical equipment and ability to read hydraulic/mechanical drawings and P&IDs .
• Expert tool usage and proficiency with micrometers and calipers .
• Preferred certifications: forklift , overhead cranes , man-lifts/scissor lifts , and other mobile equipment.
