About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Telemetry Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 06:45 - 19:15 Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: RN License Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Medical/surgical nursing experience Telemetry experience Description: The unit has 38 beds. Staffing includes a charge RN and 6-7 RNs during the day shift, with additional LPNs, PCTs, and a unit secretary. Night shifts also have a charge RN and 6 RNs, along with LPNs, PCTs, and HUC support for part of the shift. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 6:1, with a goal for the charge nurse to assist when not occupied with staffing duties. During night stretches, the ratio can be as high as 7:1. Equipment used includes Baxter IV pumps, wound vacs, SCDs, and various monitoring devices. The EMR system in use is Cerner Powerchart. Candidates should possess strong medical/surgical nursing experience. Telemetry experience is critical for consideration. Preferred qualifications include charge nurse experience. Typical procedures on the unit include peripheral IV starts and dressing changes. Ideal candidates will be team players with a positive attitude and a willingness to help others without being asked. Traveling staff may float to other medical-surgical units as needed. Weekends will typically require working every other weekend or six weekend shifts in a six-week schedule.
