Description:
The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing patient care in a long-term care and skilled nursing facility.
Job duties include medication administration, blood glucose monitoring, insulin administration, IV medications, TPN, tube feedings, wound care, lab draws, and specimen collection.
Additional responsibilities consist of foley catheter care, trach care, assistance with activities of daily living, assessment charting, incident reporting, and monitoring vital signs.
Oxygen management and administration are also part of the role.
Central line care, chest tube management, IV starts, admission orders, and fall assessments are exclusive to registered nurses.
Candidates must have experience measuring wounds, although staging of wounds is done by a nurse practitioner weekly.
There are specific types of IV medications administered, including Lasix and antibiotics, but no further titratable drips.
Nurses will not be responsible for monitoring telemetry.
Physician availability after hours includes access to a house doctor and nurse practitioner via phone.
The interdisciplinary team comprises physical and occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, case managers, social workers, and dieticians.
Respiratory therapy staff are not on-site, but various forms of oxygen and nebulization will be encountered.
Pharmacy services are available during regular business hours, with access to an emergency drug closet outside those hours.
Shifts are typically 8.25 hours long, which includes a 30-minute unpaid lunch break.
Weekend requirements involve working every other weekend with options for additional shifts.
Holiday requirements will apply as per the schedule.
No call or standby requirements are expected, and nurses do not get sent home early.
While nurses will mainly work in consistent areas, flexibility is required as floating may occur.
The dress code allows for any clean, professional scrubs excluding camo.
Unit-specific orientation spans three days.
