Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

Make a meaningful impact supporting Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) students as a Sign Language Interpreter for the 2026-2027 school year! Based at a single elementary school campus in the Fort Myers area, this full-time contract position is ideal for professionals who thrive in an engaging educational environment and are passionate about facilitating inclusive communication.

As an essential member of the school’s support network, you’ll provide 1:1 and group interpreting, ensuring DHH students participate fully in classroom activities and interactions. This is an on-site only position, ensuring direct involvement in the daily school community.

Key Qualifications:

• Current EIPA score of 3.0 or higher is required
• Comfortable working with elementary-aged students
• Proven experience interpreting in educational settings
• Ability to collaborate with teachers, staff, and related service providers
• Professionalism and adaptability within a fast-paced school environment
• Must complete required fingerprints (prior prints in the AHCA Clearinghouse may be valid); JLA badge process will follow clearance

What to Expect:

• Full-time schedule, up to 37.5 hours per week, following the school calendar (August 11, 2026 – May 27, 2027)
• Service delivery at one dedicated elementary campus, creating opportunities for relationship-building and consistency
• Provide ongoing support to DHH students both individually and in group settings
• Facilitate communication between students, peers, and school staff to ensure equitable access to education
