Registered Nurse (RN) - ED - Emergency Department - $25 per hour

Montefiore Medical Center is seeking a Registered Nurse (RN) ED - Emergency Department to provide high‑quality emergency care in Bronx, New York. Job Overview Specialty: ED – Emergency Department Discipline: RN Start Date: ASAP Duration: Ongoing Employment Type: Staff City/State: Bronx, New York Department: ED – Nursing Moses Bargaining Unit: 1199 Work Shift: Night (11 PM – 7:30 AM) Work Days: Alternate Weekends Scheduled Hours: 7.5 hours per day Hourly Rate: $25.13 Responsibilities Provide assistance and supervision during activities of daily living such as eating, bathing, ambulating, and transferring patients of all ages. Perform personal hygiene tasks including bathing, shaving, hair care, oral care, and perineal care. Assist with mobility, including range of motion exercises, ambulation, and use of assistive devices. Help maintain skin integrity by using pressure‑relieving devices, turning, positioning, and assisting with pressure‑ulcer care. Assist patients with elimination needs, perform cleansing enemas, manage urinary catheters, and document output. Support a safe environment through observation, response to call bells, and adherence to Montefiore Excellence Standards. Maintain a quiet environment to promote patient rest and sleep. Follow infection control policies and maintain body substance precautions. Obtain and document vital signs, temperature, blood pressure, pulse, respiration, pain score, height, and weight; report variations to RN. Collect specimens such as urine, stool, sputum, and notify RN if incomplete. Administer hot and cold applications as directed. Assist in preparing patients for surgery and in performing diagnostic and therapeutic treatments. Assist during emergency procedures and in post‑mortem care, transporting patients to the morgue as assigned. Admit patients to the unit, complete orientation checklists, and manage patient belongings. Provide safe transport of patients and medical records to diagnostic areas and other hospital locations. Replace and restock supplies, maintain utility and service rooms, and perform equipment checks. Respond to patient call lights promptly and without walking past patients. Refer patient or family questions to RN, maintain confidentiality, and communicate courteously with patients and families. Report observations, changes in patient condition, and unsafe conditions to RN. Participate in performance improvement activities, follow unit and nursing policies, and maintain professional attire. Attend educational programs related to clinical practice. Perform other duties assigned by the Administrative Nurse Manager, Assistant Administrative Nurse Manager, Patient Care Coordinator, or charge nurse. Qualifications High school graduate required; vocational or technical training preferred. Effective English communication skills, both written and oral. Graduate of a state‑certified program or one year of clinical experience as a nursing student or foreign graduate nurse. Basic Life Support (BLS) required. OHS Fit Test completed. OHS Annual Assessment completed.
