Job Description

The Production Supervisor oversees daily operations shift in a heavy industrial manufacturing environment. This role drives production performance, maintains strict safety and quality standards, manages hourly production employees, and ensures seamless communication between shifts. The supervisor actively monitors key production metrics, coordinates staffing, and supports continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safety, quality, and productivity.

Responsibilities

• Supervise hourly production employees during the assigned 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift in a heavy industrial manufacturing plant.
• Ensure production schedules and performance goals are achieved safely, efficiently, and in alignment with operational targets.
• Monitor productivity, quality, scrap, downtime, and labor utilization metrics to maintain and improve performance.
• Coordinate staffing levels and manpower allocation based on production demands and changing priorities.
• Troubleshoot equipment and operational issues promptly to minimize downtime and maintain workflow continuity.
• Communicate shift performance, operational concerns, and production updates clearly to plant leadership and incoming shifts.
• Support and promote continuous improvement initiatives focused on safety, quality, and productivity.
• Apply lean manufacturing and process improvement principles to optimize workflows and reduce waste.
• Maintain a safe working environment by reinforcing safety policies and addressing unsafe conditions or behaviors.
• Hold employees accountable for performance, attendance, safety, and quality expectations.
• Use production reporting systems, email, and Microsoft Office applications to document and share production data.
• Prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining attention to detail and quality.

Essential Skills

• Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing, steel, metals, pipe/tube, or heavy industrial environment.
• Experience managing production employees on an off-shift schedule such as 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing workflows, production metrics, and equipment troubleshooting.
• Proven ability to lead teams, drive results, and hold employees accountable for performance and conduct.
• Demonstrated experience in production supervision or production management within an industrial setting.
• Solid production leadership skills with a focus on safety, quality, and efficiency.
• Excellent communication skills for clear, timely interaction with employees, peers, and leadership.
• Strong conflict resolution and problem-solving abilities to address issues quickly and effectively.
• Experience using production reporting systems, email, and Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Industrial or manufacturing experience in heavy industrial operations such as steel, metals, or pipe/tube production.
• Back ground in continuous improvement and process improvement initiatives.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and practices.
• Comfort working in a non-climate-controlled plant environment.
• Ability to work effectively across different shifts and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Work Environment

The role is based in a heavy industrial manufacturing plant with approximately 10% of the time spent in an office and 90% spent walking the production floor. The plant is non climate controlled, so temperatures and conditions vary with the seasons. The environment is fast paced and production-focused, with significant on-floor presence required to monitor operations, support employees, and respond quickly to issues.

This is a Permanent position based out of Leesburg, FL.

The pay range for this position is $60000.00 - $65000.00/yr.
