Human Resources Operations Specialist

Building on nearly 50 years of success, we deliver Payload & Protection Systems, Aero/Hydrodynamic Interstage Systems, and Propulsion & Launch Systems to more than 80 prime contractors supporting over 130 space and defense programs.In this role, you support core Human Resources (HR) operations by maintaining accurate employee data, improving HR systems and processes, and helping employees navigate HR programs and changes. You work closely with the HR Operations Manager and cross-functional partners to ensure reliable information flow, strengthen day‑to‑day HR operations, and translate HR initiatives into clear, practical resources for employees and managers.ResponsibilitiesSupports human resources information system (HRIS) administration, including employee records, organizational structures, workflows, system transactions, access permissions, and issue resolution.Maintains HR data accuracy through audits, validation, and coordination with HR, Payroll, and Information Technology (IT).Supports HR system enhancements and implementations through requirements gathering, testing, deployment activities, and user assistance.Develops clear communications explaining HR programs, policies, processes, and system changes.Creates change‑management resources such as communication plans, frequently asked questions (FAQs), manager toolkits, and training materials.Coordinates HR Operations projects by maintaining project plans, tracking milestones, communicating with stakeholders, and following up on action items.Creates and maintains standard operating procedures (SOPs), process maps, templates, and employee self‑service resources.Develops recurring and ad hoc HR reports to identify data trends, process gaps, and improvement opportunities.Identifies opportunities to simplify, standardize, and automate HR processes to improve efficiency and the employee experience.Supports employee lifecycle processes, compliance activities, audits, and special projects as business needs evolve.Required QualificationsAt least 3 years of experience in HR operations, HRIS administration, HR program coordination, or a related HR function.Experience using a human resources information system (HRIS) to maintain employee and organizational data.Experience supporting HR projects, process improvements, system changes, or program implementations.Strong written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex information into clear employee and manager communications.Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail and data accuracy.Ability to manage multiple priorities and coordinate work across stakeholders and functional teams.Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams, and SharePoint.Ability to handle confidential and sensitive employee information appropriately.Preferred QualificationsBachelor’s degree in human resources, business, communications, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.Experience with HRIS configuration, workflows, security administration, integrations, or system enhancements.Experience supporting organizational change, HR transformation, or enterprise‑wide HR initiatives.Experience developing internal communications, manager toolkits, FAQs, training materials, or employee-facing HR content.Experience creating dashboards, process documentation, or data‑quality controls.Familiarity with project management and change‑management methodologies.BenefitsMedical, dental, and vision insurance401(k) with company matchPaid time offHealth Savings Account (HSA) with company contributionFlexible Spending Accounts (FSA)Company‑paid life and AD\&D insuranceShort‑ and long‑term disability coverageTuition reimbursementKarman Space and Defense is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
