Contract | Nights | 12-Hour Shifts (4x12) | 36 or 48 Hours Per Week Accepted | 13–20 Week Contracts

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical / Telemetry unit with a target nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6, caring for patients with diagnoses including diabetes, COPD, sepsis, pneumonia, GI bleed, anemia, encephalopathy, hip fracture, and COVID-19
• Perform telemetry monitoring including remote monitoring, interpretation of dysrhythmias, and use of Rapid Response Team protocols
• Manage IV therapy including central line blood draws, PICC line management, peripheral line care, phlebotomy, IV insulin protocols, heparin, and PCA administration
• Provide care for patients requiring respiratory support including CPAP/BiPAP, High Flow Nasal Cannula, nasal cannula, oxygen face masks, oral suctioning, and non-invasive airway management
• Perform and manage wound care, wound vac, colostomy care, feeding tube care, chest tube management, and pre/post hemodialysis care, as well as blood product administration
• Adhere to isolation precautions, float to other units as required, and be available to serve on Storm Team and/or Hurricane Team during catastrophic events or mass casualty situations

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in North Carolina or a valid Compact nursing license
• Minimum of 2 years of registered nursing experience
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification
• Demonstrated proficiency in telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia interpretation; must pass EKG testing prior to start
• Experience with Medical Surgical and Telemetry patient populations and associated clinical skills listed above
• Ability to work a minimum of 12–16 weekend shifts per contract and 2 of 3 major holidays; willingness to float within the facility as needed

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience with on-unit telemetry monitoring, port access, insulin management, CVA care, surgical drains, tracheostomy management, and ABG interpretation
• Proficiency with EPIC electronic health records documentation
• Background in stepdown or higher-acuity Medical Surgical environments
