A growing, well-established organization in the north suburban Chicago market is seeking a Finance & Accounting Manager to lead core accounting operations, strengthen financial reporting, and support leadership with data-driven insights. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hands-on environment, enjoys improving processes, and wants to make a measurable impact on financial accuracy and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee daily accounting operations including general ledger maintenance, AP/AR, and cash management.
Lead month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and performance metrics.
Monitor and analyze financial results, identifying trends and recommending improvements.
Manage account reconciliations, journal entries, and variance analysis.
Partner with leadership to support budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
Maintain and enhance internal controls, accounting policies, and workflow efficiencies.
Support external audits, tax filings, and compliance documentation.
Mentor and guide junior accounting staff as needed.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
5+ years of progressive accounting experience; supervisory experience preferred.
Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
Experience with ERP systems (Sage, NetSuite, SAP, or similar).
Advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, VLookups, modeling).
Strong analytical mindset with high attention to detail.
Confident managing full-cycle accounting with minimal oversight.
Comfortable improving processes and implementing new efficiencies.
Able to communicate financial information clearly to non-finance leaders.
Thrives in a collaborative, fast-moving environment.
Demonstrates ownership, accountability, and professional maturity.
